Angie Mendez retired from Hays Consolidated Independent School District (Hays CISD) in 2022 after an accomplished career marked by strategic leadership, community engagement, and innovative program development. As the district’s Director of Community Relations, she excelled at building synergistic partnerships that strengthened both the school district and the Hays CISD Education Foundation. Angie oversaw more than 2,000 volunteers and coordinated districtwide volunteer initiatives, securing financial support from community partners and leading outreach efforts to recruit mentors for students. She also planned and executed major district events, including District Convocation, training workshops, community meetings, and large-scale celebrations.
Angie went on to serve as the Executive Director of the Hays CISD Education Foundation, reporting to a 24-member Board of Directors. In this role, she guided policy discussions, fundraising strategy, board engagement, and the foundation’s overall visibility and impact. She led the development and implementation of marketing campaigns and fundraising initiatives designed to fill gaps in underfunded district programs. Her creative leadership produced and expanded several signature programs, including the School District Teacher of the Year event, the Annual Top 10% Student Recognition (Linebarger Reception), the Team Hays Scholarship Program, and the Classroom Teacher Grant Program.
Before her time with Hays CISD, Angie spent 14 years at the Texas Department of Economic Development (TDED) as an Economic Development Specialist, where she further refined her skills in strategic planning, partnership development, and statewide program coordination.
Fluent in Spanish, Angie brings a culturally attuned and people-centered approach to every role she takes on. Her experience working with diverse communities, complex organizations, and high-impact initiatives positions her as an invaluable leader and collaborator in any setting.
